We like individuality, and not just in our people. Our menus are created at each hotel by our Chefs’ inspiration and imagination, so no lengthy company standard menus for us! Just kitchen teams who want to create and cook what our customers want to eat and who really can’t do enough for our customers.
As an Apprentice Chef in our kitchen you’ll work alongside some highly experienced and talented individuals who will support you to develop your full potential as a chef.
Everyday will be different and you’ll be given the opportunity to practice a full range of food preparation activities to enable you to gain your qualifications and the skills needed for your future career.

Duties will include:

  • Ensuring the kitchen is kept clean and tidy to promote good health and safety practice
  • Prepping and preparing foods for service (such as chopping and preparing vegetables)
  • Taking instruction from your Head Chef whilst preparing meals
  • Ensuring portion size, presentation and preparation is always to a high standard.
  • Working alongside the kitchen team to communicate effectively to operate a smooth service

Qualifications required

Ideally GCSEs at Grades A* to C or equivalent, including English and Maths (without these, you will need to pass a functional skills test during initial assessments)

Future prospects

On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be offered a Commis Chef position within one of our four star hotels! From there the sky is the limit, as QHotels will support your development by providing training throughout your career.

Things to consider

The right candidate must be available to work full time hours that will include evenings and weekends
Lots of our hotels are located remotely, so some support may be required to get you to and from work
The role will be fast paced, with long shifts working in a hot kitchen! Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
