Working with and reporting to the IT Manager and IT Technician your role will be to support the whole Mail Solutions organisation across its sites in Telford, Blackburn, Llangollen, Romford and Corby. Travel will be part of the role alongside the IT Technician and or other staff.

Your role will be to undertake the following:

Manage IT support helpdesk and prioritise support queries which can include:

  • Desktop Support
  • Printing Support including; paper jams, print quality issues, toner inventory management
  • Hardware support
  • Software Support
  • Connectivity Support including wired and wireless networking, VPN connectivity for remote workers and internet connectivity.
  • Learn the management information system including process flows, assisting with improvements and support

Server management including;

  • Backup Management
  • Creating users
  • Managing Group Policies
  • Remote Desktop user management
  • SQL Server reporting and administration (preferable)
  • Mobile Device Support including mobile phones and tablets

Qualifications required

GCSE Maths, English grade D or above or equivalent qualification, and ideally ICT at the same level.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship it is hoped that the candidate will be offered a permanent position.

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices from the 1st April 2017 is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The new NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by this age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate for their age.

As part of the apprenticeship the candidate will be working towards a workplace training plan within their organisation as well as working towards the apprenticeship framework components with Telford College. The candidate will achieve the following qualifications:
