The Business administration apprenticeship will give individuals the opportunity to start within the company at a level which will allow development into the different functions which require administration support. These departments could include Sales, Marketing, Service centre, Communications and Human Resources. As a business administration apprentice you will experience periods of time in each section of the department to gain relevant knowledge of how the department works and the basic concepts of what business administration involves. You be responsible for completing several daily tasks to a specific deadline. Throughout the apprenticeship you will be given opportunity to perform more tasks as and when you develop your knowledge of how the departments operate and gain more experience with the particular systems used within the Company.

Daily duties are likely to include:

  • Producing a range of business documents such as letters, notices, posters and reports using Microsoft Office
  • Dealing with enquiries via telephone and email
  • Filing and data entry
  • Understanding legislation to include data protection, health and safety and copyright affecting organisations
  • Organisation of meetings
  • Arranging Business Travel
  • Diary planning
  • General office administration duties

Things to consider

Full training will be provided along with ongoing mentorship throughout the duration of your career. Sheffield College City Campus attendance one day per week in the first 15 weeks of the programme. Please ensure you have sustainable transport to both employer and college locations.

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
