    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Studio Tone are looking for new talent to join their team. You will gain hands on experience within CNC machining and a valuable qualification alongside.

You will be part of a close working team carrying out the following duties:

  • Training in the operation of CNC software and 5 CNC machines.
  •  Involvement of the production of embossing/foiling dies from artwork provided by the clients through to producing the final product

You will be working with high end clients such as Smythson, Aspinal of London as well as many others in the printing and embellishment trade.


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Must be computer literate.
  • Good with numeracy, able to work within a close team but also under their own initiative.

Personal qualities

  • Punctual and flexible.
  • Good communication skills, literacy and numeracy.
  • Good telephone manner as will be communicating with clients on a daily basis.

Qualifications required

  • A*-C grades including Maths, English and Science as a minimum. 
  • PROCAT will determine suitability by interview and proof of grades/predicted grades.

Future prospects

Possible to lead to full time employment with us or within the industry with opportunities to produce work within the printing, motor and any other engineering industry.

Training provider

  • You will undertake a Level 3 Engineering Manufacturing Apprenticeship, taking 4 years to complete. 
  • You will attend PROCAT in Basildon on a part day/block release basis for the first year then 1-day per week for the remainder of the apprenticeship.
