    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties include:

  • Aerosol Can Manufacturing Processes, receiving & inspecting incoming goods & raw materials, slitting printed tin plate sheets, welding, seaming, air-testing, palletiser, wrapping & dispatch.
  • Machine setting for each operation for set-up of each height change.
  • Problem solving of non-conformance issue, tracing back to core issue and correcting.
  • In process documentation – Daily Production summaries, certificates of compliance / conformance, quality checks.
  • Health & Safety – Safe Operation of the factory, safe operation of all machines, safe storage and handling of materials, compliance with H&S procedures / regulations COSSH, REACH etc.,
  • QMS – Quality Procedures, in accordance with ISO9001 standards. Use of measuring instruments, specification conformance checks, calibration requirement checks, inspections, maintaining records.
  • Maintenance – Mechanical / Electrical / Pneumatic.
  • Prevention regular maintenance, Action repair after breakdown; fitting new parts, problem solving.
  • Installation of new machines & equipment and upgrades to existing.
  • Acquiring knowledge and experience to understand engineering operation manuals, electrical wiring diagrams & engineering drawings.
  • Participating in production & quality meetings and involvement with general thought process of improving processes, methods of working to increase productivity and improve efficiency of the factory & workforce.
  • Reducing waste and implement cost-saving measures.
