We are seeking applicants that are flexible to work a range of shifts within a 6:30am to 19:00 pm time frame, across a seven-day operation (you will have at least two days off a week)

What you’ll do in the role of a Starbucks Barista: 

  • Working as a team to ensure a world class customer experience. 
  • Executing store operations including promotional activity.
  • Provide quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. 
  • Follow Starbucks operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling, security and health and safety to ensure the safety of self, customers and partners at all times.
  • Providing a cheerful and helpful manner while greeting guests and preparing their orders.
  • Using a cash register to record the order and compute the amount of the bill. 
  • Collect payment from customers and give the correct change.
  • Inform supervisors when equipment is not working properly and when supplies are getting low.

Personal qualities

  • Ideally you'll have some customer service experience, from a branded, fast paced food, retail or hospitality environment. What really matters is that you’re a hard worker who’s always willing to get stuck in and support your team and love working with people.
  • Excellent communication skills are a must too, plus plenty of enthusiasm to hit daily goals and targets, and a passion for providing a superb customer experience.

Future prospects

Upon completion of the apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to move onto a Level 3 advanced apprenticeship in team leadership You can then move onto management and district management through the Starbucks University

Things to consider

As a Barista Apprentice you will work a minimum of 30 hours per week, you may be asked to work up to 40 hours a week (£6.70 - £7.20 per hour). This is a physically demanding role in a fast paced environment. There will also be early starts so you will need to live close to the store or have access to transport. From 1st of April 2017 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 or over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. Those between the ages of 19-24 who are in their second year (or third year) need to be paid the National Minimum Wage for their age bracket. In April 2016 the new National Living Wage was implemented and therefore if you are over the age of 25 and in your second or third year of an Apprenticeship you will be entitled to be paid the National Living Wage.
