    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

What the company are looking for:

An apprentice who wants to work in an architectural environment following assembly instructions.

Someone who is reliable and willing to work in all areas of the factory and assembly area including re-stocking supplies, reporting problems in the assembly process and carrying out quality checks.

Someone to work in the small architectural assembly team ensure that all products leave the company in a timely fashion, correctly assembled and reach the customer in good working order.

Duties will include:

  • Assembly
  • Packing
  • Wrapping
  • Dispatch initially
  • But they want to find a person to learn all aspects of the company.

Someone who can work quickly and accurately and become an effective Assembler.

Training provider

The training will take place at Lema academy based in Hockley, Birmingham, B19 3NH. You will first spend 2 days per week gaining your level 1 Certificate in Engineering Manufacture. On successful completion of this you will move onto your Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Business Improvement Techniques where you will spend 10 days split over 2 weeks in the academy. For 50 weeks you will be required to complete a work based project as part of your qualification as agreed with your employer. If required you will complete your Functional Skills Maths and English.
