    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

The AW Repair Apprenticeship programme provides you with an exciting and challenging opportunity to achieve formal qualifications through extensive product training, while in full-time employment.

Duties will include:

  • Small to medium panel repairs
  • Composite panel repairs
  • Panel removal and refit
  • Welding and joining
  • Identifying the extent of damage
  • Accessing and removing damaged components
  • Some repair and maintenance on the vehicles
  • Vehicle valeting
  • Ensuring the workshop is kept clean and tidy at all times
  • Other general duties as and when required

Training provider

The candidates will be expected to travel to EMTEC's training centre in Nottingham for 7 separate weeks per year to carry out skills training.  Residential accommodation will be provided if required for the candidates

  • IMI Intermediate Apprenticeship in Vehicle Accident Repair (Body) - 24 months
  • Vocational Related Qualification (VRQ)
  • Vocational Competence Qualification (VCQ)
  • Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths, English and ICT if required

Regular visits to the dealership from EMTEC Vocational Learning Advisors will take place, who will observe all evidence opportunities that occur naturally in the workplace

Candidates will be expected to engage in self-directed learning outside of normal working hours, which will be monitored and tracked through an online e-portal

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 18 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. * Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week.
