    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Central College Nottingham is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Business Admin Apprentice to join the learner services team, providing key administration support.

This is an exciting and varied role for a candidate to join a small but busy team. You will be a pivotal member of the team gaining skills and qualifications to develop in key administration duties.

The day to day duties involved in the administration role will include:

  • Answering the phone and directing calls as appropriate
  • Photocopying, filing, scanning
  • Data entry in spreadsheets and college systems
  • Taking meeting minutes
  • Dealing with queries and initial assessments
  • Preparing documents
  • Taking enquires over the phone and via emails
  • Any other general administration duties as required
  • This is a varied role and requires the successful candidate to be flexible and adaptable

The NMW for apprentices will be £3.50. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training * Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours on advert will be amended accordingly to fall in line with the legislation * This apprenticeship is work based learning therefore most of the time you will be working at the employers address. Depending on your training you will only need to attend college in Nottingham for initial assessments, enrolment and a few other rare occasions *Please note if the successful applicant is found prior to the closing date the vacancy maybe withdrawn early*
