The post holder will gain experience within the HR disciplines of HR Transactional, Payroll, Learning and Development, Report Writing, Data Analysis, general enquiries and correspondence. This apprenticeship will be an excellent start for the post holder to commence a career within the HR field.

The following list is intended to give an indication of the range of duties and
responsibilities attached to the post and does not attempt to specify all aspects of
the role.

  • Provide administrative support to the HR team, updating and maintaining the HR
  • systems as appropriate.
  • To input payroll claims and expenses adhering to the deadlines and transmissions dates.
  • To monitor and input budget data on to College systems
  • Assist with the Learning and Development administration and systems. 
  • Provide statistical information to support business areas.
  • Produce regular College reports for senior managers. 
  • General office tasks including photocopying, filing, inputting data.
  • Deal with enquiries from staff and the public over the telephone, by email and in person.
  • Monitor shared email accounts and respond to queries, referring onto HR colleagues where appropriate.
  • Maintain an accurate personnel filing system and undertake other general office duties as required.
  • Maintain appropriate files and records in accordance with College and audit requirements, the Data Protection Act and with due regard to confidentiality.

On completion of the Intermediate Apprenticeship, individuals will have the opportunity to apply to progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship.

Competency qualification: Apprentices will be required to produce work and build an e-portfolio of evidence through blended learning which will include practical and written knowledge assessments which are carried out in the workplace.   

Knowledge qualification is delivered in the classroom on a day release basis over a period of 16 weeks.  The course is completed with written / computerised assessments that are delivered in exam conditions in the classroom.

Functional Skills at level 1 in Maths, English and IT delivered in the classroom

Employment Rights & Responsibilities are embedded in the competency qualification.

Personal Learning & Thinking Skills are delivered via a workbook and completed in the workplace.
