Responsibilities of the Technical Support Engineer Apprentice:

With constant support and guidance from the company your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • To provide first and second line support to all clients by phone, email & remote.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows (XP, Vista, Windows 8.1 & 10, Server 2000-2012 R2), Exchange (2010 and above and Online) and Office 2010 - 2016 (Outlook)
  • Supporting and maintaining live server and network infrastructures to ensure continuous uptime and optimal performance and security
  • To actively seek to improve I.T. systems and processes where possible
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and basic networking
  • Installing authorised software
  • Desktop & network hardware installation, configuration and maintenance
  • Create and maintain documentation

Requirements of the Technical Support Engineer Apprentice:

  • Generalised I.T. experience / knowledge preferred
  • Minimum 5+ GCSE qualifications or equivalent
  • Able to work confidently and efficiently as part of a team and individually
  • Wi-Fi, basic network principles and troubleshooting, basic IP knowledge, PPTP, VPN, IPsec VPN client
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills with a can do attitude.

Qualifications required

Someone with ideally 5 GCSE grades (C and above) or equivalent, including Maths and English
