Duties to include:

  • Greet and approach customers ascertaining their needs politely, efficiently and effectively, whilst most importantly making them feel valued
  • Become familiar with the Magnet brand, its products and services and also understand who Magnet’s main competitors are and what products and services they offer
  • Explain and demonstrate Magnets products and services to customers as appropriate in a personal and friendly manner
  • Have contact with customers on the telephone and by email – for example, promoting products, offers, updating customer details, handling complaints and updating customers with resolutions
  • Support customers with any after sale queries in a timely and effective manner to increase the opportunity for future business
  • Check the quality of stock when it is delivered from the factory / suppliers
  • Adhere to Health & Safety requirements by operating safe working practices
  • Maintain the security of stock by adhering to the company’s stock control procedures
  • Complete the required modules of the “knowledge” training programme
  • Any other reasonable duties required by the Store Manager

Qualifications required

Ideally 5 GCSE’s Grades C and above (Mathematics and English Language as a minimum) or equivalents

Progression into permanent positions and long term careers with Magnet will be available for the right candidates

Things to consider

The programme will involve learning to operate a Fork Lift Truck. In order to meet the legal regulations for fork lift operation candidates should be 17 or over by 1st November 2017. Hours of work are 40 per week and will include Saturdays and Sundays on a rota basis The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
