Duties will include:
As an apprentice, you will be trained under the guidance of a designated qualified IT Engineer to undertake and to carry out the following duties:  

  • Receiving in-bound calls and emails from clients on help-desk support; providing support and regular feedback/updates to client problems and keeping the incident helpdesk updated within a specified time frame
  • Speaking with Engineers taking their parts / software requirements
  • Sourcing parts / software from Suppliers and raising quotes and orders
  • Raising jobs for recommended works
  • Responding quickly and effectively to client queries
  • Occasionally accompanying IT Engineers to client premises for site visits
  • To efficiently undertake basic administration and clerical duties which may include data input, data extraction, scanning, filing and typing duties as directed
  • To be a flexible and supportive member of the team
  • To maintain strict confidentiality at all times

3 x GCSE (or equivalent) at grades A-C in any subject plus GCSE English and Maths (or equivalents) at grade D or above

Future prospects

For a hard working apprentice, you will be given the opportunity to develop a career with the company with more responsibilities, new job title and pay increases on successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

Approximately 11% of training takes place in the QA learning centre classroom. 9% is done in the workplace, through online training, face-to-face meetings with your QA Technical Skills Coach, or developing your portfolio. The remaining time will be spent on your workplace activity.
