The candidate will provide administrative support for Solicitors who are representing clients at the police station when arrested as a suspect of a crime and in court proceedings when charged with criminal offences.

The apprentice will be based in the Criminal Team, providing support to the Solicitors and administrative staff.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Answering the phone
  • Logging post and documents on a database
  • Opening and distributing post

 The apprentice will also be responsible for:

  • Photocoping and scanning documents
  • Communication with clients, court staff, barristers chambers and other professional agencies
  • The apprentice will send/monitor emails and manage an electronic and paper diary

Training will be given to open new files, conduct client risk assessments and billing police station cases.

Personal qualities

  • Due to the nature of our business and handling sometimes very difficult situations,we would prefer a candidate aged 18 or above
  • Friendly and confident
  • Communication skills

Qualifications required

  • It is essential that you have or expect to achieve GCSEs, or equivalent, graded C/5 or above in Maths and English

Future prospects

The apprenticeship is likely to lead to the offer of a full time role within the firm.

Things to consider

Some clients can be challenging and demanding. Some of the case content is unpleasant due to the nature of serious criminal allegations.
