The role will involve providing administrative support including data input and assisting with the assessment of housing applications received. In time you will also be meeting and greeting customers and providing housing advice and information in a customer focused environment.

Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.55 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £6.95 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Advanced Level Apprenticeship
MAIN PURPOSES OF POST
To provide an administrative service for the Housing Options Team which includes:
To meet and greet customers in the Housing Options Centre and to provide housing advice and information on the CBL scheme in a customer focused environment.
To provide administrative support to the Team, including data-inputting and assisting with the assessment of housing applications received.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities must be undertaken to comply with Council policies and procedures.
To meet and greet customers in the Housing Options Centre and to provide housing advice across all tenures.
To assist customers with ‘bidding’ for properties.
To issue housing application forms to customers and to advise and assist them in completing these.
To input housing applications onto the system in accordance with procedures.
To assist Housing Options Officers with the assessment of housing applications.
To assist the Housing Allocations Officers with the advertising of properties.
To provide general administrative support to the team, including responding to customer enquiries, maintaining files and associated documentation and preparation of sign-up documents
To form part of a rota to provide administrative support and front-line cover across the Housing Options and Housing Allocations Teams
To deal with enquiries on all Housing and Council services and where appropriate, referring any more complex enquiries to the appropriate Council Service, including arranging interviews if necessary.
To liaise with a wide range of other service providers of the Council and other agencies and organisations as appropriate.
To ensure that the Housing Options Centre is stocked with the appropriate literature and information and that it is all current.
To maintain records of all work undertaken for monitoring purposes and to compile reports for management as required.
To record and report safeguarding concerns in line with policy and procedures.
To be aware of the operational requirements of data protection and storage of personal information, to advise a senior officer of any actual or potential breach and, where necessary, to delete data under the direction of a line manager.
Any other duties which are similar in level of responsibility.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF POST
You may be required to work outside of normal working hours, for which time off in lieu will be given.

On the successful completion of the apprenticeship the employer would envisage the candidate becoming a full time member of the team. They will continue to provide further learning and development opportunities to them in support of their career development.
Things to consider
This role will entail some customer facing aspects and as such you must be comfortable in doing this. Full training and support will be given to you prior to this happening, but it will in time become an integral part of the role.

Throughout the duration of your apprenticeship, you will be employed by the company and will spend the majority of your time in their office doing a proper job. Whilst in the workplace you will receive on the job training and support from your employer and also have monthly visits from your tutor to support you in your learning and development. During your apprenticeship you will attend monthly (1 day) training sessions at our state of the art training facility in the heart of Sheffield, where you will further your knowledge and understanding of the subject area. When you’re at work you will be working as part of your company’s team but also be set tasks by ourselves to show you’re learning and to provide evidence for your assessors. Training Provided by Skills For Careers: • NVQ L3 in Business Administration • L3 technical Certificate • ERR • PLTS • Functional Maths & English may be delivered Training will include mandatory training plus a variety of monthly courses delivered to compliment the Apprenticeship as part of our Business Skills Academy.
