Websites & More, in Exmouth, is a high-street based web and graphic design agency. Your customer facing role will include discussing project requirements with clients, creating offline and online graphics, social media management and assisting with the in-house eCommerce business.

Working within a small, independent web design agency, this apprenticeship offers a great opportunity for someone look to gain a wide variety of experience and skills.

You will be involved with:

  • Creating online banners and other web graphics
  • Designing mock-ups of website layouts
  • Designing logos and business stationery
  • Dealing with new clients and taking detailed brief of work required
  • Answering the telephone and taking enquiries
  • Use of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign)
  • Image optimisation/processing and product photography
  • Social media management and marketing
  • Customer service and order fulfilment for online shop
  • Filing and general administration tasks

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Good computer skills, ideally some knowledge of using the Adobe Creative Suite (or similar). Good maths skills for estimates, attention to detail and good English and typing skills. An interest in web design and social media.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently (after training)
  • Punctual and reliable with good time management
  • Good telephone manner and skills (after training)

Qualifications required

A requirement of the apprenticeship is that all apprentices will have a grade C equivalent in English, Maths and ICT by the end of the course. If an employed apprentice does not have that level of qualification in any or all of those subjects, they will take Level 2 Functional Skills during the apprenticeship. This is a requirement of the qualification and not optional.

Future prospects

May lead to permanent employment for the right candidate on completion of the apprenticeship or progression to an Advanced Level Apprenticeship.

Things to consider

'The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
