    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated Apprentice who is looking to further their knowledge and skills. The successful candidate will work alongside our current team handling and caring for our horses.  Own horse possible.

A high standard of care and attention to detail will be expected to maintain the company image we pride ourselves on.

Yard Duties will include:

  • Turning out and bringing in.
  • Mucking out.
  • Feeding, watering and haying.
  • Grooming.
  • Clipping and trimming.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times.
  • Bandaging.
  • Tacking up.
  • Lunging/ long reining.
  • Riding.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, hard-working team with a successful young event rider in the equestrian industry. Within the role the successful candidate will be working towards Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Horse Care (Work-Based Level 3 in Equine Care and Management).

The Level 3 Advanced Apprentice will carry out the yard duties with the team and further develop their yard management skills alongside experienced grooms as well as developing the apprentice.

Things to consider

As there is no accommodation, you will need to get yourself to and from work each day. You will be prepared to work in all weather conditions. Important Other Information Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training. KEITS Training Services Ltd reserves the right to close the vacancy earlier than the listed closing date should the need arise.

About the employer

Family run event yard competing internationally, up to 7 horses at any one time ranging from youngsters to experienced event horses/ponies. Some are offered for sale. Charlotte’s daughter currently competes at Novice level and moving up the ranks.
