As an apprntice in this busy salon you will learn all aspects of ladies and gents hairdressing.  Your dality duties will include:

  • Reception work to include greeting clients, answering telephone & making appointments.
  • Shampooing clients
  • Keeping salon clean & tidy
  • Assisting the sylists to learn all aspects of unisex hairdressing to become a qualified hairstylist.

Qualifications required

For a Hairdressing Professional (Level 2) you should ideally have a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade D or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English (grade 3+).

Things to consider

This will involve working on Saturdays as this is a busy day in the Hairdressing industry. You will also be on your feet a lot of the time. You will initially be contacted by York College to discuss this role and if they are unable to contact you will not be put forward for this role. The salon is situated in Haxby but is on an excellent bus route from York city centre. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.40 per hour from 1st October 2016. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
