JOB PURPOSE

  • Work alongside other members of the Warehouse Shop team, Sales Advisors and Volunteers, to assist the Supervisor in the day to day running of the shop.
  • Contribute to increasing income from a range of donated items and 'new goods' with the aim of maximising sales and profit.
  • Deliver superior customer service.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General

  • Work as part of the Warehouse shop team (Supervisor, Sales Advisors and Volunteers) to maximise sales and achieve agreed sales targets.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service at all times.
  • Operate the till, completing all procedures and any associated paperwork as required.
  • Receive donations and deal with the handling and moving of donated goods, including furniture and electrical items.
  • Assist with the sorting and pricing of donations in the warehouse.
  • Actively promote Gift Aid on donated items, following the correct procedure for new Gift Aid donors.
  • Ensure all donated stock is cleaned, priced and attractively displayed within the shop; ensure 'new goods' stock is displayed correctly.
  • Actively promote and sell Hospiscare prize draws.
  • Cooperate with other fundraising initiatives and promote good working relationships with Hospiscare support groups.
  • Observe Health & Safety guidelines (including manual handling) and fire regulations in all areas of the warehouse

Training and Development

  • Complete all statutory and mandatory training as provided.
  • Work towards completion of a Customer Service qualification at Level 2 over a maximum of 12 months.
  • Attend Exeter College on a day release basis when required.
  • Participate in performance reviews throughout the year.

Professional

  • Adhere to Hospiscare policies and procedures.
  • Act as an ambassador, promoting Hospiscare's values.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.

Other

  • Undertake any other duties requested by line manager which are within the general scope of this post.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Cash handling experience
  • Knowledge of EPOS/stock control systems

Future prospects

We now have an opening for a Customer Service Advisor to join the Retail team at our Warehouse Shop in Exeter, where you will earn as you learn and work towards a nationally recognised qualification in Customer Service at Level 2, with a permanent part time post (22.5 hours/week) on completion of the apprenticeship. This is a fantastic opportunity if you are looking for a challenging retail role with great prospects for self development and progression.

Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Customer Service Practitioner Standard

You will attend Exeter College one day a week during term time as well as have regular visits in the workplace to confirm your compentency within the job role. You will also complete an end point assessment which will include a practical observation and a professional discussion. 


Link to professional registration: Completion of this apprenticeship will lead to eligibility to join the Institute of Customer Service as an Individual member at Professional level.
