Established over 20 years ago, Fayre Do's started as in-house caterers at Castle Studios in London.  Since then we have grown our catering services to encompass TV, commercials, feature films and event crew catering.

We produce tasty and nutritious menus, freshly cooked and delivered to meet your exact requirements. At the helm is experienced Chef, Jamie Cook, supporting him is a team of talented chefs, all with impressive backgrounds. Jamie himself has travelled the world, catering for the world of motorsport, from Formula One to the First World Rally Team. He's certainly well-versed in the logistics of catering. Jamie trained at Westminster College, then moved to a leading London, working for Marco Pierre White, before joining the management team at Fayre Do's.

This is an entry level job that will teach you about life in the kitchen. As a commis chef you’ll be doing all of the preparation work for the more senior chefs.

When you start out you should be rotated through different areas of the kitchen, such as vegetables, meat, fish, pastries and sauces.

  • Ensuring good hygiene and health and safety at all times
  • Preparing ingredients for the team
  • Measuring dish ingredients and portion sizes
  • Helping with deliveries of stock

Basically, you’ll be starting at the bottom but if you’re a quick learner you can quickly progress up the ranks.


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Basic kitchen skills are required for this position as well as the ability to follow instructions and develop new kitchen skills.

Personal qualities

  • Hard working with the ability to work well when under pressure.
  • Able to work on their own.
  • A sense of humour is an advantage.

Qualifications required

  • GCSE English, Maths & IT  A to D (or equivalent).

Future prospects

If there is a position available within the business then it will be offered to you at the successful completion of your apprenticeship based on past performance and timekeeping.

Things to consider

Access to your own transport would be an advantage but not essential. This job will be hard work but very rewarding.
