Apprentice can be expected to cover all aspects of gardening throughout the year.

To include:

  • Private gardens
  • Large sports fields
  • Riverbanks and large communal areas
  • You will be expected to learn how to mow, strim, hedge trim, dig, maintain areas of land and be strong and able to work within a team environment

Qualifications required

GCSE D or above in Maths & English GCSE or equivalent.

Future prospects

The right apprentice could expect the opportunity of full time employment at the end of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

You will need transport, or be able to get to Bishopstoke to start work at 8.30, with your own transport home, local bus stops and train station 1 mile away. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). Travel to college will be funded by employer.
