    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage rates are £4.05 an hour for 16 - 17 year olds, £5.60 an hour for 18 - 20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship(usually one day per week).

The employer is keen to meet candidates with a passion for hairdressing and will encourage the new apprentice to attend any extra product training days and hair shows and events.

Duties will include;

  • Greeting customers
  • Taking telephone calls and booking into the diary system
  • General housekeeping duties
  • Assisting stylists

The employer will also pay a bonus based on commission of haircare products on top of the minimum wage for apprenticeships.

We are looking for candidates who are reliable; honest and enthusiastic with a willingness to work hard and go further in their career.

Candidates must be very well presented and polite with excellent communication and customer service skills. We are also keen to meet candidates who are self starters with the initiative to carry out tasks without being prompted by the employer.

Qualifications required

Candidates are expected to have basic numeracy and literacy skills but no formal qualifications are required.

Future prospects

The employer is keen to grow her business and open more salons in the future. For the right candidate this could mean that once qualified and if they demonstrate the required behaviours that there is a strong potential to grow with the business.
