    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

A normal day would include:

  • Be committed to the provision of high quality holistic care of children
  • Be committed to own professional development and responsible for own learning
  • Be involved in planning on a short/long term basis to enhance the provisions and development of children
  • To establish and maintain good relationships with parents/children
  • Use skills of observation to assess child development and complete/maintain records
  • To attend training and complete tasks, assignments and assessments on time
  • To contribute to team discussions and input ideas
  • To adhere to statutory early years legislation at all times.
  • To communicate effectively with colleagues and build positive relationships with the children
  • To follow the safeguarding policy and procedures of the setting, ensuring the welfare and safety of the children is maintained and promoted at all times
  • Reporting any concerns to the appropriate senior member of staff as stated in the policy.
  • To adhere to the confidentiality policy of the setting, ensuring at all times information regarding the children and their families is kept confidential.
  • To ensure the settings policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • To be flexible within working practices, being prepared to help where needed.
