    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Tyre Tech are a family-run, independent large garage looking for a Mechanic Apprentice to join their fun and friendly team. They have all new state of the art equipment.

You will be assigned a mentor and receive fantastic training. As part of the role, you will begin with the following tasks, then work your way up to be competent enough to learn new tasks.

  • Servicing vehicles.
  • Repairing and replacing faulty parts and components.
  • Advising customers about the repairs that are required.
  • Producing time estimates.
  • Maintaining repair and service records.

  • Must have good time keeping and be reliable.

Personal qualities

  • Looking for somebody who is willing to learn with a ‘can do’ attitude.

Qualifications required

  • Maths – C grade GCSE/ Equivalent.
  • English – D grade GCSE/ Equivalent.
  • PROCAT will determine suitability by interview and proof of grades/predicted grades.

Tyre Tech are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable person who they can hopefully offer a full time position at the end of the apprenticeship.

We also offer other services in addition to tyres such as Wheel Alignment, MOTs, Servicing, Repairs, Brakes, and Exhausts.

  • You will complete a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Light Vehicle Maintenance. This will take three years to complete and you will attend PROCAT college in Basildon for 1 day per week.
