    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage rates are £4.05 an hour for 16 - 17 year olds, £5.60 an hour for 18 - 20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship(usually one day per week).

Job Description

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Planning production schedules
  • Preparing production sheets
  • Preparing ingredients
  • Manufacturing chocolate products
  • Wrapping chocolate products
  • Order ingredients and maintain ingredient stock levels
  • Maintaining hygiene standards
  • Maintaining production records
  • Working to agreed manufacturing procedures and food hygiene systems
  • Adherence to Soil Association (Organic) requirements and maintain records
  • Maintaining equipment to required standards
  • Cleaning chocolate moulds
  • Support packaging/ distribution staff when necessary
  • Regular deep cleaning
  • Supporting business in updating and improving procedures and processes
  • Supporting general running of the business when required

Qualifications required

Min 3 GCSE’s A-C grade including Math, English or equivalent.

Future prospects

Complete an Intermediate Food Industry Solutions Apprenticeship, possibly leading to an Advanced Apprenticeship (management level) at a later date.

Things to consider

Ideally, the person would have knowledge of the key processes involved in the production of food products, ideally extending to making chocolate and chocolate products, in addition to relevant qualifications in Good Hygiene standards and Food Health & Safety (however, this is not essential as training will be given)
