As a Level 2 Business Administration apprentice, you will be expected to support and assist existing members of the team. Your daily duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Generation and completion of administration documents, for generating new business and sales
  • Learning sales techniques and applying them to new business, mainly cold calling
  • Ensuring client files are kept accurate and up to date
  • Insurance and risk management fully met to client's satisfaction
  • Communicating with clients via e-mail, over the phone and face to face

The office is a ten minute walk away from Wokingham Rail Station and has a bus stop right outside.

Your working week will be Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

There are no qualifications required as full training is given throughout the apprenticeship.

Future prospects

You will be taught many skills and become familiar with many facets of the business whilst studying on the apprenticeship. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will have the option to choose which facet you would like to progress into and work within. These include, but are not limited to, sales, marketing, business administration or insurance brokering. You are offered a permanent contract with your apprenticeship being your introductory, training year.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. About the employer

Peter Jackson began his insurance career in 1977 working for an Insurance Company in Reading. He obtained all round experience gained in each of the various departments: Motor, Accident, Fire and Claims, and became an Inspector in 1982 with responsibilities for liaison between the Insurance Company and the Brokers.

Ten years later, he crossed the fence (so to speak) and became an insurance broker - working initially for a large, national broker for two and a half years before settling down to work with a small yet successful family owned brokerage based in Henley-on-Thames.
