    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

For the first month, all apprentices would be expected to complete internal training and to shadow our service desk engineers. You may also be required to visit a customer site with a qualified Network engineer to see our core business in this period.

After the initial training period, you would be expected to perform basic service desk functions and continuous training towards;

  • Managing incidents and requests
  • Resolving Technical Issues
  • Customer Care

A typical working day would be from 8:00 – 4:30, unless otherwise required. You will have the opportunity to further develop your understanding of Windows operating systems, Active Directory, network troubleshooting as well as learn new hardware component and software diagnostics skills.

Future prospects

A great opportunity to get into IT. The progression you can make within our company following the apprenticeship is to become a full-time employee working on our first lien service desk. This can also lead to working on second line support, project management, becoming a field engineer. There are a wide range of opportunities available within the company once your apprenticeship has been completed.
