Wages explained
The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Heart of England training is looking for somebody who is enthusiastic and passionate about starting a career in customer service to join their friendly and experienced team!

This will be a full time position working 37.5 hours per week and hours of work will be discussed at interview stage. 

Typical daily tasks of an apprentice will include;

  • Greeting customers in salon
  • Making drinks
  • Arranging appointments
  • Taking queries and directing these to the correct colleaugue
  • Cash handling.

As part of your working week you will receive training from centre colleaugues and you will be visited on a regular basis for assessments by a Heart of England Training assessor to work towards NVQ level 2 in customer service..

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Confident with good communication skills
  • Able to speak fluent English.
  • Maths would be advantageous but not essential as this can also be taught. You should be smart, presentable, with a good attitude to work and time keeping

Qualifications required

Candidate needs to be:

  • Fluent in speaking English
  • Able to read and write in English
  • Maths qualification would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given

Future prospects

On successful completion of NVQ level 2 customer service, there may be the opportunity to progress onto NVQ level 3 customer service and good training program.

Things to consider

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. NVQ level 2 in Customer service will include deliver effective customer service, support improvements in customer service, understand different types of customers and the importance of their loyalty, understand how legal and ethical requirements relate to customer service along with optional units which will be discussed on your first visit with the assessor.
