    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

    We operate 7 days a week. Hours will include evenings and weekends. Shifts may vary. Earliest start 10.00am to latest finish 11.30pm.

  • Serving of customers in the bar & restaurant.
  • Keeping the restaurant and bar in a clean and hygienic condition.
  • Learning & working to company standards in respect of service & product knowledge.
  • Keeping up to date with new products and offers available to the customer.
  • General kitchen duties under the supervision of the chef.
  • Washing up and other general duties associated with a pub / restaurant.
  • Learning about cellar management, stock control & how to keep beers & cask ales.

  • We are looking for a reliable, positive & outgoing individual who can work on their own initiative and who has a passion for hospitality.

  • A good understanding of English and Maths.

Future prospects

We would like to see this role progress into a full time role within the team. This would lead to a full time position.

Things to consider

This role does include working evenings, most weekends & bank holidays. A share of gratuities and 28 days holiday is included. Free parking available. You will be physically active for most of the day.

About the employer

The Vine Inn is a traditional English pub. Being the only pub in Black Notley, we have a high catchment area that we are keen to exploit. We pride ourselves on our high level of service and knowledge of regulars. We concentrate on serving traditional pub food, and a wide selection of beer and spirits. We have a 22 cover restaurant, with plans to update the building and increase to a 40 cover restaurant. We currently have three full time staff, and four part time staff.
