This is an excellent opportunity for you to join an established pharmacy and gain the skills required to become a qualified Pharmacy Technician. You will develop both the skill and the knowledge to become proficient in –

  • Dispensing medicines accurately and in a timely manner,
  • Making up monitored dosage systems for the elderly and nursing homes.
  • Ordering and checking prescriptions as they arrive on line.
  • Undertaking stock management by filling up daily, checking, putting goods away as they come in and doing the returns.
  • Helping ensure good stock rotation and regularly checking expiry dates in the shop and dispensary,
  • Ensuring the dispensary is regularly replenished with cartons and bottles etc.
  • Helping organise the driver to collect and deliver medicines for the elderly and housebound.
  • Keeping the shop and dispensary clean and tidy by regularly cleaning and tidying the shelves, including vacuuming and basic daily cleaning
  • Answering the phone and taking down messages or referring to pharmacist for recommendations
  • Assisting in other duties as requested by the pharmacist
  • Undertaking any clerical paper work and data input for services and business.

The successful applicant once qualified as a technician can develop further and progress with ACT courses later.

Training provider

Within the pharmacy you will be closely supervised by the pharmacist and technician and develop great working relations with the community.

Learning both at work and during your day at college, 1 day per week.

Your off the job training will cover;

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills;
  • Level 3 Diploma in Parmaceutical Science;
  • Employer rights and responsibilities.
  • Functional skills where necessary
