An exciting opportunity for an apprentice to work alongside qualified technicians where you will be trained in dealing with all aspects of the maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles.

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship

With the rapid increase in the complexity of today’s trucks – and the technology needed to keep them up and running – first class training for those involved in the vital servicing and maintenance of these vehicles has become more important than ever. The DAF Apprentice Programme gives you the chance to join the select group of specialist technicians working on some of the most modern, sophisticated trucks on the road.
The day to day tasks include:
- Observing and assisting technicians.
- Following health and safety procedures.
- All aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair.
Requirements and prospects
- Full training will be provided, no skills required.
- A keen interest in heavy vehicles, hard working and well motivated.
- The apprentice must have excellent communication skills verbal and written.
- Minimum of 3 GCSE’s or equivalent (A-C preferable).

- You must be keen, enthusiastic and self-motivated.

Practical skills and experience will be gained at the DAF service point you work at, while the training and knowledge you need to support them will come through attending the DAF Training Centre, which is located in Loughborough. Your training begins with a week's induction at the Outward Bound Centre in Aberdovey alongside other DAF Apprentices from around the country. After this your training will take place at the DAF Training Centre with its specialist instructors and dedicated workshop facilities.
On successfully completing your training, which takes a total of three years, you will leave the DAF Training Centre with an Advanced Apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Heavy Vehicle), which will include:
- VCQ Level 2/3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
- Technical Certificate and Diploma.
Key Skills (if required) qualifications in:
- Application of Number.
- Information Technology.
