    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

This vacancy is advertised by the Training Trust on behalf of Tamba.
You will attend the Training Trust one day per week for your college work.

You must demonstrate an ability to work in all areas of the nursery with different age group of children.

Duties include:

  • Fully understand the EYFS to plan activities and to record the children's development as they progress through nursery.
  • Prepare snacks for children.
  • To attend to their personal care needs throughout the day ensuring that the child is respected and safe at all times.
  • Feeding the children and attending to the sleep and rest needs throughout the day.
  • Be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for the children, staff and parents alongside the staff.
  • Adhere to the shift patterns at the nursery - start times of 7.30 a.m. finishing times of 6.30 p.m. and anything in between based on an average of 8 hours working time.
  • Report to the room leader and managers of the nursery.

Future prospects

Progression onto an Advanced Apprenticeship and  to continue employment at nursery if apprenticeship goes well, the apprentice shows commitment and there is a space available.

In the event that the candidate would like to progress onto an Advanced Level Children and Young People Apprenticeship they must have grades A*-C in GCSE English and Maths as these are the entry requirements as of 1st August 2015.

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
