The George & Dragon is a pub and restaurant with accommodation in Rowde, Devizes. We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard working Chef to work 47.5 hours a week over five days.

Covering Breakfast shifts, split shifts, kitchen porter/assistant work (mainly split shifts as chef/kitchen assistant). This is a role for someone with a keen, positive attitude toward cooking and work in general.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Working alongside the chefs in the production and service of quality food.
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene.
  • Assisting with stock control.
  • Contributing to the efficient orking of the busy kitchen & restaurant.

Applicants under 18 will only work up to 40 hours a week due to those under 18 being legally unable to work for 47.5 hours a week.

Things to consider

Any applicants under the age of 18 years of age will only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Accomodation is available for the right candidate for a short period of time. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). For more information visit: www.gov.uk/national-minimum-wage-rates
