Working alongside the warehouse manager you will be responsible for the efficient running of the warehouse. The role will enable you to learn all aspects of our warehouse procedure from the checking goods when delivered to the assembly and despatch of final product.

Wages explained
The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Working week

Working days: Monday - Friday. 37.5 hours a week. Start time: 09:00 Finish time: 17:00 (this includes 30 minutes unpaid lunch and two paid 15 min breaks in the morning/afternoon)

The company are looking for someone to operate in their warehousing environment and cover a number of differing roles including:

  • Taking delivery of items from suppliers
  • Putting into store product items, taking care to use the correct locations
  • Assembly of products ready for despatch
  • Making sure there are adequate supplies available of consumable packaging and packing items
  • Using the necessary Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) which is available to you
  • Keeping the warehouse clean and tidy

Telford College are managing this vacancy on behalf of this company. As part of the screening process of applications you may be contacted by Telford College for a telephone interview as part of our screening process. Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices from the 1st April 2017 is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The new NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by this age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate for their age. The location of the company is on an industrial estate away from the town centre. There is however bus routes if the person does not have their own transport.

Training provider

As part of the apprenticeship the candidate will be working towards a workplace training plan within their organisation as well as working towards the apprenticeship framework components with Telford College. The candidate will achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Warehousing and Storage (QCF)
  • Functional Skills in English & Maths at Level 1
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
