    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Your duties as apprentice office sales administrator will include:

  • Answering customer support enquiries, initially online and once confident will deal with customer enquiries by telephone.
  • Dealing with returned parts and customer refunds.
  • Helping and supporting customers selecting the correct part they require for their appliance online and by telephone.
  • Data input.
  • Using Microsoft software
  • Store and retrieve information relating to customer orders on a daily basis.
  • Provide reception services as and when required.
  • General office administrative tasks such as:
    • Handling mail
    • Filing
    • Managing diary systems
    • Photocopying

At busy periods you will be asked to support within the warehouse department with picking & packing parts.

Things to consider

Your wage will be reviewed throughout the apprenticeship with a view to be increased. The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices from October 1st 2016 is £3.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Wage for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training. Individuals who already have a Level 4 qualification are now eligible for a Level 5 or above Higher Apprenticeship only. They are not eligible for funding for an Intermediate Level, Advanced Level or Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship.
