Tasks will include the following:

  • To assist in the provision of care and work as part of a team to achieve the required standards.
  • To ensure Clients retain their dignity and individuality
  • Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting/assisting Clients, when required, with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, eating & drinking and all other aspects of daily living.
  • Assist Clients in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual).
  • Provide attention when needed, whilst ensuring Clients retain their comfort and dignity.
  • Pay particular attention to assisting those who have limited mobility, or physical / learning difficulties, making the best use of aids provided

The working week is; 2x12 hour shifts plus 1x6 hour shift and thirty six working hours during college holidays.

Things to consider

Please consider the distance of travel when applying for an apprenticeship vacancy. If you live outside of a reasonable commuting distance from the place of work an explanation of your travel plans will be expected within your application. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Amberwood has been operating as a Nursing Home in Exmouth for over 20 years. We are a small, friendly but very busy home and have up to 19 residents with different abilities and requirements at any one time.

Training provider

  • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. This is the competency qualification that will be assessed in your workplace.
  • First Aid Qualification, training in Food Hygiene, Moving and Handling, Health and Safety, and Infection prevention and control.
  • Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to work in Adult Social Care this is the theory and underpinning knowledge you require within your job.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is 3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
