By the end of your apprenticeship you will gain Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Technical Support and will be able to undertake the following tasks:

  • Testing equipment used in heating and cooling in building services industry
  • Measuring indoor thermal comfort levels (air quality, temperature and velocity)
  • Measuring acoustics levels
  • Measuring indoor air quality (dust & pollution levels)
  • Assist with construction and operation of test rigs
  • Testing, calibrating and handling tools and instruments
  • Instruments fault diagnostics and minor repairs.

Things to consider

From the 1st October 2015 a National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices has been introduced for young people aged 16-18 and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The new rate is £3.50 per hour. The new NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by the age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age.
