    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties to include:

  • Help staff with both long and short range of activities.
  • Assist in play and stimulating games to paly with children.
  • Record all accidents accurately.
  • Maintain daily and open communication with parents.
  • Cleaning duties essential.
  • All forms and documents completed.
  • Security adhered to and safeguarding policies and procedures adhered.
  • Arrange room environment to suit needs of activity.
  • Health and safety at all times within the nursery.
  • Equipment kept clean and tidy.
  • Closing down procedures followed.
  • Notice boards kept up to date.
  • Pass information over to other staff members.

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

  • Level Childcare Apprenticeship, including and NVQ and functional skills which will be delivered by Interserve/ESG at the business premises so no requirement to  going to college.
