    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

The Role:

The successful candidate will be working alongside existing testers, developers and business analysts and be mentored and trained to carry out the following duties:

  • Identifying manual functional test conditions and creation of manual test scripts
  • Execution of manual functional and regression test scripts and capturing evidence
  • Accurately record, review and retest defects found in the system under test
  • Providing the automation team with regression test scripts to add to the automated regression suite.

 
Once the soft skills of a tester have been gained, the successful candidates can expect the role to develop into a technical tester utilising development skills to create and run Automated and Performance tests, review and enhance frameworks etc.

  • Be inquisitive and interested in how something works, and how something doesn’t work
  • Be technology / technically minded with a working knowledge of at least 1 coding language
  • Be flexible and have an ability to multi-task
  • Possess great communication skills
  • Be pro-active and keep up to date with the latest technologies, testing tools and methodologies

  • Passion to become a software tester

Qualifications required

  • 5 GCSE's A-C grades, including Math's and English.

The future is bright Upon completion of the 12 month programme, there are real progression opportunities available. Along with your employer, you may decide to progress onto our level 4 programme and take your training even further.
