A normal day would include:

  • The successful candidate will learn all aspects of the operation and maintenance of all site plant and equipment.
  • The continual aim will to become a skilled engineer, also with the ability to fully understand the manufacturing processes to fault find and rectify any production or maintenance issues affecting the Mill.
  • The apprentice will follow an electro/mechanical maintenance route, but will also be gaining skills in several engineering areas including Electronics, Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Welding.
  • The role will also develop a high level of knowledge and understanding of the Flour Milling processes and the related Food industry manufacturing and Safety standards.
  • Working correctly at all times to site and customers Environmental, ISO quality and H&S procedures.
  • Producing and maintaining accurate records in accordance with role requirements.
  • Demonstrating continual commitment to develop your skills and knowledge throughout your apprenticeship.

Qualifications required

  • The successful candidate will have achieved GCSE (or equivalent) minimum Grade C in Maths, English and Science.
  • Good I.T. skills with GCSE Grade C or equivalent level of achievement is also required.

Things to consider

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
