We are seeking to employ and train two Manufacturing apprentices.

You will be highly trained to work in the world of manufacturing, the initial training will be broad based leading to a first appointment as a Production Engineer.   The first year of the apprenticeship will be based at EEF Technology Training Centre in Birmingham where the apprentice will learn all of the basic skills require for a manufacturing  engineer.  You will be trained an able to use a wide range of equipment including;

  • Lathes.
  • Mills,
  • CNC multi-axis machines
  • Chemical etching processes.

Whilst also using a really high level of bench fitting skills. You will eventually carry out a more advanced CNC programming & CAD work.. The second year will be day release to EEF to complete the BTEC level 3.  From the third year the apprentice will be based at Rotometric full time, where they will be assessed for their NVQ level 3. 

The apprentice will be working as part of the production team reporting to the production team leader.  The apprentices will be assigned a mentor who will support their training in company through observation of tasks and practicing of new skills.   By the end of the four years the apprentice will be able to produce accurately and efficiently process tooling to a high quality standard in line with customer requirements and the associated work instructions.

Qualifications required

GCSE Grade C/5 or above in English and Maths, or a recognised equivalent qualification.

Things to consider

These are both Shift based positions, normal working hours would be: Monday to Friday 06:00 -14:00 or 14:00 - 22:00 The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
