Advanced Level Apprenticeship
The Asda Technology Apprenticeship is a 3 year scheme with the objective of creating our Tech leaders of the future. Your first year will be spent rotating around the teams up to every 3 months, whilst studying your level 3 Apprentice qualifications (similar to A levels). In your second and third years you will spend longer periods of time with teams and will be studying for your level 4 Apprentice qualification (similar to the 1st year of a degree).
We’ll take you on a journey through the department, giving you access to each area, our colleagues, the technology we use, and the way we work:
- Strategy, Architecture & Governance
» Would you like to translate our business ideas into new technology solutions? Then Business Analysis or Architecture is for you!
» Are you good with numbers and like to manage financial budgets? Then maybe a rotation in our
commercial support team could be for you
- Project Management & Engagement
» Would you like to be the one who implements the next big technology? Joining the project management
team will give you the chance to see a project from idea to delivery.
» Are you good at sticking to the rules? Perhaps time in our Project Management Office is an opportunity to make sure that things happen the way they are supposed to
- Application Development & Maintenance
» Are you more technically minded? You could be delivering new functionality to the business using technologies such as SQL, Java & ASP.NET and learning how to create and manage data effectively in order to provide insight to the business
» Can you manage people? You could help to manage a portfolio of applications and vendors making surethat Asda is able to operate 24/7
- Service & Infrastructure
» Are you a problem solver? Maybe you would enjoy spending time in our service management team helping colleagues to do their day to day jobs by making sure our technology is always available
» Do you know the difference between a server and storage platform? You might want to work in our infrastructure teams making sure we have enough capacity, storage and bandwidth to run all our systems
» Would you like to get your hands on some physical tech? Our workstations team support colleagues with hardware and software deployment in real time and often face to face
- GeC (Global E-Commerce)
» Can you communicate across continents? Our GeC teams work with international development colleagues from Bulgaria to Bangalore to California
» Are you good at working in a changing environment? Our product teams work in a super-fast agile way where priorities change every day
Requirements and prospects

Minimum 5 x GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) including Maths, English and ICT
About the employer
Asda Group Limited
The Estio Training IT Apprenticeship programme gives young people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.
Learners will receive seven weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.
Training will lead to industry-recognised qualifications including:
- Advanced apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals
- Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals
- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles
- Functional skills, Maths L2, English L2 and ICT L2
- PLTS and ERR
