    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

The main responsibilities of this role will be:

  • Preparing, cooking and serving large volumes of nutritious meals in a hygienic environment
  • Ensuring recipes and portion controls are followed
  • Complete kitchen documentation
  • Minimise all kitchen wastage and maintain stocks
  • It will also be compulsory to maintain a high level of food hygiene whilst instilling excellent housekeeping the workspace.

This role will also largely entail imparting knowledge, and leading a proportion of the kitchen staff through service.

The Chef de Partie role within a kitchen will, partly, be carried out by yourself to lead on to progression.

Qualifications required

The Level 2 Professional Cookery qualification is desired, alongside relevant work experience within this industry.

On completion of this qualification, I would hope that this would lead on to a Full Time Position within our kitchens.
