Within this unique and exciting role at the recently opened Italian restaurant in West Bridgford, you will gain skills and qualifications pivotal to becoming a chef. Working in a fast paced environment and as part of a small team, you will experience the duties involved in the day to day working of a professional and brand new kitchen.

Duties and topics covered across the role will include:

  • Al a carte and fine dining
  • Modern cooking techniques
  • Roasting and braising techniques

  • Plating and presentation skills
  • Preparing fresh pasta, stocks, and sauces
  • Dealing with deliveries, stock control & ordering

Training provider

Professional Cookery diploma Level 2 - 12 months

  •  Level 2 Diploma in Professional cookery
  •  Functional Skills English, Maths and ICT Level 1 if required

This apprenticeship is 1 day per month at the college term time only 9am - 5pm with the other days based at the work place. Training will be day release one day a month to Trent Bridge Cricket Ground training kitchen.

Other information

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
