The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Advanced Level Apprenticeship
The position available is for a Customer Service Apprentice for the company’s Leicester City centre store. There may be a need to help out in the other stores around Leicester, and if this is the case, full expenses will be paid for travel. The successful candidate will be helping customers with queries and questions, processing sales through the till, helping with maintaining standards and general store maintenance. You will be responsible for helping all customers in a polite, friendly and courteous manner, helping to increase repeat customers.
You will report to the Store Manager in the first instance.
Requirements and prospects
You will need to have excellent attention to detail, excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. You will also need to be a quick learner and able to adapt quickly.
You will need to be personable and honest, friendly and adaptable to change. Being able to think on your feet and use initiative is also a must, as during quiet periods you will need to keep yourself busy whilst being ready to help customers at the drop of a hat. To succeed you will need to meet all the required KPI’s (TBA) as well as complete the Apprenticeship and exceed business expectations in both attitude and aptitude
GCSE A-C in English and Maths or equivalent desired but not essential.
Things to consider
About the employer
You will be trained to Stocktake, work on the till and how to interact with customers effectively. This will then lead onto more aspects of the qualification.
Candidates will gain a level 3 qualification in customer service upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
