We are looking for four Electrical Engineering Apprentices to work within our Power- Low Voltage Distribution Business Unit.

The programme is a 3-4 year apprenticeship in the Electrical Switchgear and Energy Management field. The apprenticeship will include working on a shop floor manufacturing environment and will progress into the preparation of quotations and providing technical assistance to customers via the telephone or e-mail.

The company is seeking candidates to undertake an Intermediate or an Advanced apprenticeship in Engineering dependant on qualifications gained.

In addition to a willingness to attend college on a day release basis to successfully attain recognised BTEC qualifications, the successful candidate will be expected to display the following characteristics:

  • Secondary or College education
  • Good level of Maths and English (preferably GCSE Level Grade C or above)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • A desire to learn & develop
  • Flexible and self-motivated

Passionate about delivering first class customer service.

The successful candidate will need:

  • A basic understanding of Health and Safety policies
  • The individual will be required to attend college every week to undertake study for a BTEC National Certificate and following this, an HNC qualification with possible progression to degree level subject to the performance demonstrated.

For the level 2 Engineering apprenticeship:

GCSE – English & Maths  at grades A- C (or equivalent)

A PEO or other relevant Engineering qualification desirable but not essential

 

For the level 3 Engineering apprenticeship:

GCSE – English, Maths & ICT at grades A- C (or equivalent) and relevant Engineering qualifications. 

Future prospects

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there will be Positions offered within the Tendering, Contracts management, and Product application engineering or Commercial departments. Successful applicants will also have the chance to study Engineering qualifications up to HND level.

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices from the 1st April 2017 is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The new NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by this age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate for their age.
