We are recruiting for an apprentice web developer with a passion for all things web. The role will entail the development of exciting, responsive bespoke websites as part of a small, friendly team. Support /mentoring will always be on hand from our senior developers, and you will be an integral part of upcoming projects and the development team.

    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Day to day duties include:

  • Development of bespoke responsive webpages from PSD.
  • Updates to current clients websites
  • Assisting in supporting existing client websites.
  • Following quality control procedures on websites.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Knowledge of basic web technologies – HTML, CSS, PHP, MYSQL, Javascript/Jquery.
  • Any knowledge of the following advantageous – Bootstrap/Foundation, SASS/LESS, GIT, Wordpress, task runners (GULP / GRUNT), NPM, Package Managers (Bower).
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
  • Attention to detail
  • Proactive and positive with a can-do attitude
  • Effective communication skills

Personal qualities

  • Enthusiastic and committed
  • Keen to learn and develop skills, and willingness to embrace change
  • Ability to think independently and work within a team
  • Punctual and reliable

Qualifications required

  • Applicants should be literate and numerate.
  • Grade C and above in English, Math’s are preferable.
  • Any portfolio of web work / personal web projects would be a huge advantage.
