The tasks the apprentice can expect to be undertaking on a daily basis are:

  • Using a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, etc., to produce correspondence and documents and maintain presentations, records, spread sheets and databases
  • Answering general queries by telephone
  • Providing customer service and solutions to customers
  • Making phone calls
  • Writing and dispatching routine or straightforward letters
  • Assisting directors as necessary
  • Devising and maintaining office systems
  • Booking rooms and conference facilities
  • Using content management systems to maintain and update websites and internal databases
  • Attending meetings, taking minutes and keeping notes
  • Invoicing
  • Managing and maintaining budgets
  • Liaising with staff in other departments and with external contacts
  • Sorting and distributing incoming post and organising and sending outgoing post
  • Liaising with colleagues and external contacts to book travel and accommodation
  • Organising and storing paperwork, documents and computer-based information
  • Photocopying and printing various documents, sometimes on behalf of other colleagues.
  • Undertaking any other tasks/duties as may be reasonably required

Qualifications required

Candidates should have a GCSE grade A-C in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications in these subjects.

Future prospects

Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship a full time position will be made available to the candidate.

Things to consider

Good bus routes. Please note if you contact the employer directly you will not be considered for this vacancy. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
