Activities will be varied and will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Photocopying, paginating and binding trial bundles and other documents
  • Completing accounts requisitions and dealing with accounts transfer on the Peppermint system
  • Filing letters, emails, notes and documents on clients’ files (hard copy and electronic)
  • Printing and filing documents from our outsourced typing
  • Scanning incoming post onto electronic files
  • Opening new client matters as instructed
  • Archiving files as instructed:
    • Check Office/Client account balances are clear
    • Check if any disbursements are outstanding
    • Write off WIP time outstanding
    • Fillet files – remove account slips, cheque requisitions, fax confirmations, excess draft documents
    • Print archived accounts details and digital storage sheet
    • Remove completed matters from the practice database and send the file for storage

Qualifications required

Educated to AS/A Level minimum or equivalent.

Future prospects

Given the variety of the role and exposure to different areas, there are lots of different paths available within our firm upon qualification either in one of the legal teams or in our business support team which includes IT, Finance, HR, Marketing and Operations.

Important Other Information: Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. From April 1st 2017 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
