Brief description of duties

Insurance Administration:

  • Saving emails, updating tasks, re-diary tasks & general task management
  • Managing day to day activity from inception to completion of renewals with daily communication with the Technical Administrator
  • Managing day to day activity from inception to completion of New Business with daily communication with the Technical Administrator
  • Managing day to day activity from inception to completion of Mid-term Adjustments with daily communication with the Technical Administrator
  • To co-ordinate any day to day administration requirements (in conjunction with the Technical Insurance Administrator) to facilitate the Renewal, New Business or Mid Term Adjustment of a Commercial Lines policy
  • Managing and updating day to day ‘product panel lists’ whilst working closely with Technical Administrator
  • Putting the customer at the centre of everything you do
  • Accounts Assistance, collating documentation and tasks
  • To assist the Financial Controller with accounts reconciliations and projections
  • Working with Compliance Officer to facilitate accuracy of client and office activity within rules and regulations imposed by the FCA
  • To comply with all Company Policies and procedures
  • To ensure that all work undertaken complies with the Company’s Health and Safety policy and procedures

Administration (In conjunction with Business Support):

  • Incoming post (opening the post, scanning, renaming, filing and distributing)
  • Outgoing post

Reception (In conjunction with Business Support):

  • Answering the telephone, re-directing calls or taking messages
  • Meeting and greeting clients and other visitors
  • Preparing for client meetings
  • As above, plus any additional duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be expected to be undertaken in accordance with the role

  • We are looking for an Apprentice who has the ability to work well in a team
  • The successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be highly organised 
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Personal qualities

  • We are looking for an Apprentice with attention to detail who is hardworking, self-motivated and eager to learn new skills
  • Working as part of a team, you must have good interpersonal and communication skills with people at all levels
  • We expect you to be reliable, responsible and honest
  • Finally, we really want an Apprentice who is energetic and highly motivated to succeed, with an ability to use their initiative

Qualifications required

  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • ICT or computer experience would be advantageous

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
